Role title
Technical Shift Controller Consolidated Nights
Your role
As a Technical Shift Controller Nights, you will be responsible for overseeing the technical operations of the airline’s fleet and infrastructure during the night shift. Our Maintenance & Engineering Department helps us to drive Aer Lingus’ ambition by ensuring that all aircraft, ground support systems, and critical technical operations are functioning properly, supporting the airline’s operational efficiency and safety during overnight hours.
Your responsibilities a Technical Shift Controller Consolidated Nights will include:
- Supervision and certification of Line Maintenance work to ensure compliance with prescribed airworthiness standards and the requirements of the MOE. Reporting to and deputising for the relevant DSEM.
- Leadership, motivation and direction of line maintenance crews to ensure delivery of the highest level of technical performance to achieve company and department annual Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s).
- Control of duty manpower levels and the coordination of aircraft maintenance in conjunction with the Duty Maintenance Manager, Maintenance Production Planning Specialist and Short-Term Planner through monitoring of AMOS “maintenance forecasts” for planned items, ensuring tasks are performed in a timely manner prior to exceeding their due date.
- Ensuring that all tooling is returned at the end of each shift and a detailed shift handover is completed.
- Responsible for ensuring excellent housekeeping standards are maintained.
- Ensuring compliance with company, regulatory and Health and Safety requirements. Notifying any Quality Compliance issues to maintenance management.
- Ensure all AOG events are prioritised and allocate resources as required to ensure maximum first wave fleet availability at 05:00 irrespective of the operating schedule.
- Utilising all available manpower, actively pursue closure of deferred and repetitive defects on a continual basis to ensure the best possible product is presented to our crews. Liaise with Station Managers to ensure maximum efficiency is attained by allocating personnel to Line or Hangar activities as required.
- Oversight and full engagement with all aspects of TMS to include annual leave and sick leave, within your area of responsibility, while adhering to planned absence and leave rules.
- Development of line maintenance staff including motivation and recommendation for appropriate further training. Partaking in the training and implementation of Limited Defect Rectification approval for Cat A staff. Ensuring that line maintenance crews complete prescribed training courses to maintain currency of training and continuity of approvals.
Your qualifications and key criteria
We are looking for an individual with experience / qualifications in the following areas:
- Hold an EASA Part 66 B1 and/or B2 License.
- Have the ability to hold the approval on A320 CEO, A320 NEO and A330 aircraft types within 12 months. Note: Competency assessments must be successfully completed on a bi-annual basis.
- Hold a full clean driving licence.
- Experienced and competent in the use of M&E IT systems (including AMOS, Airnav, Airman Web, MS Office).
- Strong technical judgement and trouble-shooting skills.
- Excellent problem solving, analytical and decision-making skills.
- Proven ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Proven supervisory ability and experience such as having held a supervisory role.
- Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to motivate and encourage staff.
- Proven organisational skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build and maintain positive working relationships.
- An enthusiastic team member with a flexible and positive attitude to work effectively in an ever-changing environment.
- Promote just culture and actively encourage employees to report irregularities through SMS.
- Excellent attendance and punctuality record.
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
- Eligible to live and work in the EU.
- Hold a current unrestricted worldwide passport.
- Provide two verifiable references.
- Able to pass a strict airport security vetting procedure which includes a 5-year background check* or be in possession of a current airside pass for the airport this position is based in Dublin.
