Job Objective
The Employee Relations and Compliance Manager ensures a positive, fair, and legally compliant workplace environment by managing employee relations programs, conducting investigations, and promoting compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and organizational policies. By fostering employee satisfaction, resolving workplace issues, and mitigating risks, this position plays a key role in supporting organizational goals and creating an environment where employees feel valued and supported.
Essential Functions
- Provide coaching and support to managers on handling employee relations and compliance issues effectively
- Conduct thorough investigations into allegations of workplace misconduct, including harassment, discrimination, and policy violations, and recommend corrective actions
- Address and resolve minor workplace disputes, grievances, and disciplinary issues while maintaining fairness, consistency, and compliance with company policies
- Maintaining accurate records of investigations, disciplinary actions, and compliance activities
- Compile, analyze, and potentially present reports to management on HR metrics and data from a variety of sources including the human resource information system (HRIS), management and employee surveys, exit interviews, employment records, government labor statistics, competitors’ practices, and other sources in support of recruitment and retention efforts
- Proactively monitor compliance with local, state, and federal labor laws by conducting internal audits and regularly researching updates
- Create and update HR policies to reflect current regulations and organizational needs
- Collaborate with the Director of Human Resources to develop, implement, and foster initiatives to enhance employee engagement, satisfaction, and productivity throughout the employee lifecycle
- Procure and/or design and deliver training programs compliance-related topics, such as anti-harassment, anti-discrimination, workplace ethics, and policy updates.
- Equipping managers with tools and knowledge to handle employee relations and compliance matters effectively
- Assist with external recruiting efforts, including occasionally representing the Company at local career fairs
- Occasionally field employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and managers, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff
- Assist Director of Human Resources with complex or serious employee matters, special projects, and other duties as assigned
Requirements
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities (KSA)
- Demonstrate strong business acumen
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters with discretion and strong ethical standards
- Thorough understanding of employment laws and regulations (e.g. EEO, FMLA, ADA)
- Familiarity with workplace investigation processes and best practices
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with employees and leadership
- Ability to analyze systems, records, statistics, and surveys and generate reports with information obtained
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for identifying trends and mitigating risks
- Ability to maintain cooperative and harmonious relationships with key stakeholders
- Strong organization and prioritization skills and the capacity to work independently, when appropriate, and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Meticulous attention to detail
- Skill in developing and delivering training sessions
- Ability to adapt to Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS), Applicant Tracking Systems, and Google Suite products
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
Education & Experience
- At least (5) years’ experience in employee relations, HR compliance, or related field
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, industrial psychology, or other related fields required
- Master’s degree or HR certification (e.g., SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, SPHR) is a plus
- Active affiliation with Human Resources networks and organizations preferred
- Aviation experience preferred

- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer

- Possibility of prolonged periods of travel by ground and air
- Ability to lift up to 20 pounds at times
Work Environment
- Primarily office-based, with occasional visits to other locations, as needed
- Temperature controlled office
- May require remote work flexibility based on organizational policies or needs
- Occasional exposure to outdoor shop with potential extreme cold and hot temperatures and loud noises
Work Status, Schedule, Travel
- Full-time
- Monday-Friday, 40 hours per week
- Occasional flexibility for urgent matters or training
- Potential for travel, 2-3 times per year to company locations or training events
