Job Summary

Join NAV CANADA as an Endpoint Administrator in Ottawa and support the modernization of workstation environments, including critical Air Traffic Control (ATC) systems. You will manage and configure enterprise endpoints, mobility, messaging, authentication, and application deployment, while leading client computing initiatives nationwide. Strong technical skills, a passion for technology and aviation, and a collaborative mindset are key.

Preference will be given to candidates with experience in Active Directory, Deployment Services, VCenter vSphere, or Virtual Desktop infrastructure administration and provisioning.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Create and test new OS and Application configurations for the business or ATC users.
  • Be in control of updates and support new feature enhancements providing value to our user base.
  • Bridge the gap with new and legacy technologies to provide a consistent and reliable environment for many different types of users.
  • Know the benefits and how to match or enable virtual platform technology to solve business and development issues.
  • Provide guidance to the service desk and remote teams on new technology advancements and provide resolution support to escalations.
  • Provide key inputs into strategies, technical direction, objectives, priorities, work plans, technical resolutions, and configuration documentation.

Job Requirements

Education:

Graduated from a recognised university or community college with an acceptable specialisation in computer science of information systems, or an acceptable combination of education, experience and training.

Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in software installation and operating system deployments/upgrades.
  • Hands-on experience troubleshooting technical problems from the physical network level to the operating system on client workstations and servers.
  • Experience with procedure creation, support tickets, and technical documentation.
  • Experience working in a collaborative team environment supporting endpoint devices and Infrastructure Services. 
  • Experience updating and supporting Windows or Linux Operating systems. 

Knowledge:

  • Extensive knowledge of software, hardware, network, OS, AD group policies and device configurations.
  • knowledge of Operating Systems, Windows and Linux as well as Software Deployment tools and technologies with a primary knowledge base using Microsoft Configuration Manager
  • knowledge of applications, packaging methods and technologies.  
  • Knowledge of the Microsoft Service model for Windows 10.

Abilities:

  • Ability to identify, diagnose, and resolve complex technical issues
  • Ability to communicate clearly and confidently with both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Ability to lead as an escalation point for first- and second-level technical support
  • Ability to break down large tasks into logical, prioritized phases
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively

Working conditions:

  • Primary work location is at the Technical Systems Centre, Hunt Club Road. Position classified hybrid and requires minimum of Three day on site.
