What Youll Get to Do
As a Recruitment Specialist for Calm Air, you will play a key role in attracting, sourcing, and hiring top talent to support our growing operations. You will manage the full recruitment cycle, from job postings and candidate screening to interviews and onboarding, ensuring a seamless hiring process. Working closely with hiring managers, you will develop strategic recruitment initiatives tailored to the unique challenges of northern aviation. Your ability to build strong talent pipelines and foster relationships with potential candidates will contribute to our airline’s success in delivering safe, reliable, and exceptional service.
- Develop and execute recruitment strategies to attract qualified candidates for airline operations and corporate positions
- Source candidates through job boards, social media, networking, career fairs, and partnerships with aviation schools
- Build upon existing relationships with northern government entities and educational institutions to create northern recruitment partnerships
- Manage the end-to-end recruitment process, including job postings, screening, interviewing, and selecting candidates
- Organize and participate in career fairs and other recruitment events
- Initiate planning community recruitment open houses for northern positions
- Assist in the development of international recruitment programs and initiatives
- Collaborate with hiring managers to understand role requirements and ensure alignment with company needs
- Create and revise job descriptions and postings to enhance Calm Air branding
- Maintain a pipeline of potential candidates for critical airline roles (ie. Aircraft Maintenance, Pilots etc…)
- Coordinate pre-employment screenings, background checks, and onboarding processes
- Ensure compliance with aviation industry hiring regulations and company policies
- Promote diversity and inclusion in all recruitment efforts
- Support departmental internship initiatives and programs
- Support specialized hiring initiatives and partnerships with other EIC subsidiaries (ie. Pilots building time)
- Support EIC recruitment programs including Life in Flight
- Track and report recruitment metrics to assess effectiveness and improve hiring processes
- Administration and maintenance of the Recruitment inbox including responding to applicants and distributing promising candidates to respective hiring managers
- Participate in special project initiatives including company and community events
- Other duties as assigned
Skills & Experience We Value
- Post-secondary education in Human Resources Management required
- CPHR Designation or work towards is considered an asset
- Minimum of 3 years previous experience in Human Resources/Recruitment
- Previous experience recruiting for aviation positions and/or in Northern communities an asset
- Demonstrated excellent skills in Excel and Microsoft Office programs
- Previous experience with a unionized environment is an asset
- Knowledge of SharePoint and Adobe considered an asset
- Strong work ethic with emphasis on confidentiality and professionalism and a demonstrated ability to resolve conflict in a diplomatic manner
- Exhibit discretion in handling confidential / sensitive information
- Knowledge of federal employment legislation is an asset
- Previous experience using HRIS systems is an asset
- Excellent communication, time management and organization skills
- Excellent customer service skills with ability to build effective relationships
- Regular travel required
- Inuktitut language considered an asset
- Preference will be given to Inuit Land Claims Beneficiaries
