We are currently recruiting for an Aircraft Performance Engineer who will function as a technical resource for analysis, testing and documentation in the aircraft performance area. Working within a team, this role is responsible for performance software and tool development. You will also support new aircraft development, performance flight test, performance data expansion, certification, support to spaneting and sales, production, and fleet support of the De Havilland aircraft portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, document, maintain and implement innovative techniques, algorithms, tools, and processes.
• Develop, test, utilize, and maintain in-house performance software, tools, and methods.
• Conduct different aircraft performance analyses, both preliminary and final, using in-house and commercial software.
• Write technical reports, including internal supporting documentation (work statements, cost estimates, test plans, etc.) as well as reports for Airworthiness Authorities.
• Provide support to production and production flight-test for performance related issues and non-conformances.
• Provide support to performance flight testing: validate and document flight test requirements, review flight test plans, define necessary instrumentation, analyze performance data, summarize flight test results, and write supporting documentation.
• Interface with other internal disciplines and external partners/suppliers to ensure efficient dataflow and decision-making.
• Provide preliminary and final performance data (guarantees) to Marketing and Sales, support Customer Engineering, Airworthiness, Technical Help Desk, In-service Engineering, and other Engineering groups.
• Carry out (and report on) several aircraft performance analyses, within the time/cost constraints imposed by certification, production, and spaneting & sales schedules.
• Interpretation of aircraft performance data and support to Marketing and Sales related issues (performance guarantees, missionized profiles) performed under significant time constraints.

Qualifications

• You have a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university.    

Skills

• Excellent programming skills (FORTRAN, C and/or C++). Knowledge of the UNIX/Linux operating systems, Windows environment.
• Excellent understanding of first-principles analyses and aircraft performance methods.
• Good understanding of aircraft performance and airworthiness regulations (FAR Part 25 and 23) is desirable. Proficiency in preparing technical reports and presentations via office-software is a pre-requisite.
• Good written and oral communication skills.
