The GEDTC Engineer provides engineering support to the business unit for all aspects of the day-to-day activities and engine campaign requirements, the candidate will be involved in continuous improvement programs as assigned. You’ll collaborate with other departments to ensure that our products and services meet the highest standards and maintain compliance to relevant airworthiness and contractual requirements.
Accountabilities
- Provides day-to-day support to assigned tasks.
- Documents and follows procedures and work instructions.
- Provides support related functions with other support personnel.
- Analyzes, and recommends methods to meet requirements, improve economy and quality, and reduce down time to the GE site.
- Establishes, analyzes, and acts upon measures of performance related to the site.
- Investigates and initiates corrective action of problems and deficiencies relating to equipment and processes to reduce variation and improve reliability.
- Recognizes and understands product safety critical parts and processes.
- Determines the actions necessary to develop new processes from engineering data.
- Contributes to the planning and launch of new campaigns at the GE site. Analyzes and documents the results.
- Proposes, researches, and performs cost benefit analysis for new equipment. In conjunction with the Sr Engineering group,
- Coordinate all activities as directed of Sr Engineers during a campaign and throughout the year.
- Coordinates and interacts with outside resources including contractors, equipment vendors, and supply vendors for process support, improvement, or repair.
- Provides support, technical expertise and experience to the team at the GE site.
- Remains current with technologies and processes.
- Responsible for observing all applicable safety requirements and reporting immediately any unsafe practices/conditions.
- Participates in proactive analysis of safety critical processes
- Carries out special projects as assigned.
Technical Requirements
- Working knowledge of PCs in the current company operating system environment.
- Strong planning, organizational, analytical, interpersonal, decision making, oral and written communication skills.
- Strong project management skills.
- Thorough knowledge of company process, company instruction and instruction manuals.
- Thorough knowledge of aerospace materials and processes.
- In jurisdictions governed by a regulatory body or with an association that is governed by local legal requirements, registration is required.
- University degree or College degree, mechanical or Technologist; or equivalent.
- Experience in an aerospace or process engineering environment.
Background Information
The typical minimum level of education to perform this job competently is equivalent to completion of a university (bachelor) or college program in a specialized field of study and work. The work requires a sound understanding of the underlying theoretical principles and concepts associated with the subject area and an understanding of the relation of these to the responsibilities of the job. This specialized training is often recognized by a degree and/or professional designation.
Directly/indirectly related work experience representing continuous learning and required for someone to perform this job competently is three to six years.
Ongoing work assignments typically have clearly defined goals. The incumbents education, training, and previous experience will help ensure that the goal of the assignment can be clearly defined and understood (even if that means just knowing what relevant questions to ask),
