Position Summary The M&P Engineer will act as first response for all production related issues pertaining to materials and processes. In this role, the engineer will serve as the subject matter expert for mechanical testing in the quality assurance laboratory, research materials and processes for new and current design, support the production and the purchasing department with shortage issues, and act as liaison between engineering and production. Essential Job Functions Research material and process improvements for a production environment. Support production through the review and disposition of non-conforming material reports. Previous Material Review Board (MRB) or corrective action (CA) experience is preferred. Develop and maintain internal specifications as necessary to define Type Design. Plan and implement laboratory operations and tests on raw materials or finished products to develop material and fabrication procedures, define static and fatigue design allowables, performance limitations, or to ensure their quality. Perform root cause analysis on material and process-related issues. Support Design and Production by determination of appropriate methods for fabricating, inspecting, fastening, and joining materials. Utilize the internal helpdesk system for maintaining traceability of all tasks requested by departments. Interface with production operators, purchasing agents, middle and upper management, and external vendors. Execute and promote problem solving to all levels of the organization. Act in a mentoring capacity to entry-level engineers and interns. Experience with metal joining processes and/or composites, metallurgical processes such as welding and heat treating, and mechanical testing methods are preferred. Experience with 14 CFR Part 23 FAA regulatory requirements is preferred. Perform other related duties as required. Supervisory Responsibilities This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
