PLM System Configuration Specialist I in GAC Savannah


Unique Skills:

DUTIES: Perform CAE, CAM, and PLM applications work with a focus on electrical engineering design and manufacturing as a Subject Matter Expert. Work in collaboration with applications end users and other PLM/IT roles for tasks associated to software troubleshooting and enhancements. Work in conjunction with engineering groups and across multiple departments to research, develop and deploy technical advances in IT with business processes. Perform engineering work related to configuring, deploying, maintaining, and upgrading CAD and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) applications and processes. Be responsible for tasks related to the development and deployment of systems, methodologies, standards, and processes that result in the ability to create and manage high fidelity digital data for company products. Ensure PLM system integrity and manage all product configuration data and information throughout the product lifecycle. Define technical contents and guide the development/coordination of training for CAD and PLM applications. Assist in planning, coordination, performance, and execution of processes for PLM tools and services that meet internal and external customer and regulatory requirements. Execute plans, according to schedules, for engineering assignments. Be responsible for the engineering feasibility of CAD and PLM solutions for complex assignments or a full project of minor complexity. Coordinate activities for lower level engineering staff assigned to specific projects. Actively work to improve daily processes, ensuring all CAD and PLM systems meet customer requirements. Analyze user needs to determine engineering and product data requirements, to determine CAD and PLM functional requirements, and to perform analysis as process and data modeling to meet user needs. Recognize discrepancies and/or problems with analysis, process mapping, or system implementation results and work toward corrective action. Tailor CAD and PLM applications functionality to established requirements, policies, and procedures. Develop system queries and utilities to support user information researches. Assist in the testing and implementation of new deployment or revisions to the CAD and PLM systems. Analyze, monitor, and report business and system status metrics. Be responsible for producing Product Structure and Engineering Bill of Material for use in production and QA. Be responsible for the release of product definition data, change management, and product configuration management activities. Ensure proper security, archiving, and audibility of product releases. Recommend innovations to improve the quality, economy, and effectiveness of the company product. Perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS: Bachelors degree or higher in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field required. Ten years of experience in engineering or IT required. Five years of experience with CAD and/or PDM tools required. Five years of experience using Computer Aided Engineering (CAE), Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM) and Product Life Cycle Management (PLM) applications required. Five years of experience using CHS Engineering/Manufacturing environments and electrical harnesses required. Four years of configuration management experience required. Any experience required with: acting as a liaison between support groups (i.e. IT/PLM) and applications end-users (i.e. engineering/manufacturing/operations) during the implementation of new technology and systems troubleshooting; PC Windows environment including MS Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio and MS Project; engineering/manufacturing data requirements and design tools; digital pre-assembly of product components; computer-aided design, manufacturing, and product data management systems; and engineering and manufacturing engineering applications and processes.

Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, a related curriculum required or equivalent combination of education & experience. 10 years of Engineering, or IT experience or 10 years Engineering experience w/broad experience in several technical disciplines required.. 5 years of experience with CAD and/or PDM tools required.(CATIA and ENOVIA SMARTEAM preferred.). 5 years of Database experience, data migration/conversion or related experience preferred..

Other Requirements:

  1. Proven computer literacy that includes PC Windows environment w/specific skills in MS Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio & MS Project required.
  2. Must have strong interpersonal skills, self motivated, and a general understanding of engineering/manufacturing data requirements and design tools.
  3. Minimum of 4 yrs configuration management experience.
  4. Experience with CAD and PDM tools (CATIA and ENOVIA LCA, VPM preferred).
  5. Previous experience with digital pre-assembly of product components (aerospace desirable).
  6. Experience in process mapping and other process improvement techniques is desirable.
  7. Familiarity with computer-aided design, manufacturing and product data management systems.
  8. Basic knowledge of design engineering and manufacturing engineering applications and processes.
