L3Harris Communication Systems is a world leader in ground tactical and airborne mission communication solutions and a global provider of ground based C4 systems and transportable SATCOM terminals. We are focused on delivering advanced systems to meet the needs of our customers, uniting multiple forms of communication together, and covering communication over air, ground, sea, and space.

Join L3Harris Communications Australia’s Global Field Services Team as a Specialist Field Engineer, supporting the Commonwealth of Australia under our Mature Support Contract. In this role, you’ll contribute to a diverse range of technical and operational services, including:

• Training design, delivery, and evaluation
• Maintenance and technical support
• Software upgrades and configuration services
• Engineering support and system integration
• Equipment installation, operation, and sustainment
• Planning, advisory, and consultancy services

You’ll collaborate closely with Australian Defence end users, as well as internal teams including engineers, sales specialists, program managers, and account managers.

This role is based in Brisbane, Australia, and requires frequent domestic travel. You’ll work both independently and as part of a highly skilled team, ensuring reliable performance and ongoing support of critical communication systems.

What the role will involve

The responsibilities of your role will include the following:

• Provide field and office-based technical support for RF communications equipment across HF, VHF, UHF, and SHF spectrums.
• Deliver customer training and guidance on operation, maintenance, and inspection procedures.
• Offer pre- and post-sales technical support, including system design input and application advice.
• Present and interpret technical information for customers and internal sales teams.
• Design minor system solutions to meet customer requirements.
• Evaluate product performance and recommend improvements or alternatives.
• Install, configure, operate, maintain, and repair communications equipment and software.
• Diagnose equipment faults and implement effective corrective actions.

What you’ll bring

The role requires the following experience and skills:

• Current Commonwealth of Australia security clearance, minimum Negative Vetting (NV1).
• Qualifications and Skills:
• Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE) or equivalent.
• Military Communications experience essential.
• Field engineering experience with tactical radio equipment including training, operation, fault finding and basic maintenance of military communications equipment.
• Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience.
• In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.
• Proven written and oral communication skills to provide reports and briefings to the customer.
