SR. DESIGNER, MERCHANDISING & EVENTS

The Senior Designer is responsible for the development and creation of merchandise assets at SpaceX such as mission patches, soft goods, and other products, as well as graphic design needs for events. This role will work closely with our engineers, events team, and cross-functional departments to deliver products and designs that meet customer and employee needs.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Collaborate with the merchandise team to design new products, using key company milestones to inform design strategy
• Work directly with the events team to design event collateral including invites, menus, signage, gifting, and décor elements
• Develop and produce graphics, typography, and layouts for apparel, social, web, and print
• Design customer gifting items, including but not limited to mission patches, signing gifts, products for conferences, and event-specific gifts
• Own the product design process from initial design to production handoff, ensuring new products meet deadlines for product release dates
• Work closely with the customer team to design and create company mission patches and provide multiple file types for varying use cases
• Keep thorough records of tech packs, BOMs, fit charts, color standards, and fabric specifications
• Manage multiple projects/tasks of varying complexities, meet deadlines, and work well under pressure
• Prepare designs for final production, including, but not limited to, printer and vendor specs
• Be a key stakeholder in the development of the brand’s identity through merchandising and events

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree in design or related artistic field
• 7+ years of experience working in product and graphic design

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

• Highly organized, detail-oriented, and possess a proven ability to thrive under deadline pressure and to execute several projects simultaneously
• Successful experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic, results-oriented team environment
• Impressive design portfolio including merchandise and graphic designs
• Advanced knowledge using graphic design software such as Adobe Creative Suite (including, but not limited to InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator)
• Strong communication skills both verbal and written, strong cross-functional collaboration skills, and ability to influence in front of key stakeholders
• Demonstrated track record of successful design and integration, assimilating design feedback, and the delivery of projects on time
• Strong aptitude for trend and design; exceptional design aesthetic and experience working with a fashion/apparel brand preferred
• Experience retouching images for both digital and print
• Ability to respond to business objectives with creative, original, and cost-effective design solutions

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Must be able to work extended hours and/or weekends as needed, with occasional travel to events

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

Pay range:

Designer, Merchandising & Events/Senior: $110,000.00 - $145,000.00/per year

Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.
