Sr. Engineer, IPT - Manufacturing (Full Time)

The individual in this position will support the needs of the product development Integrated Product Team (IPT) by providing a critical link between engineering and manufacturing to ensure lifecycle completion from design release to finished part for proof-of-concept development and conforming test articles.
This position will entail heavy involvement in the design phase to identify and solve problems and influence effective part definition from a Design for Manufacture (DFM) perspective. Beyond drawing release, the person in this position will be required to interface with all downstream functions as needed to support completion of production work orders, definition of fabrication processes, determination of material requirements, definition of detail part and / or assembly tooling, completion of NC programming, definition of fabrication timelines, and execution of fabrication culminating with ensuring the fabricated part is in compliance with the design requirements.
The person filling this key role will be located with the IPT to maximize team interface and dedicated focus but shall have hands-on experience with the Piper manufacturing processes and the various work-centers.
Work closely with IPT engineering functions during concept design stage to influence design for manufacturability with due consideration of Piper Aircraft material and fabrication capabilities.
Spearhead efforts to identify and resolve complex material and manufacturing challenges while maintaining the highest quality standards pertaining to machined parts and sheet metal parts.
Strategically optimize work sequencing and workflow through machines and work centers.
Determine make versus buy decisions changing production methods to increase efficiency and reduce costs.
Coordinate and manage outsourcing of critical components, maintaining strong relationships with external vendors.
Conceptualize and lead the development of advanced tooling and fabrication designs for aircraft components.
Provide budgeting information and project updates/status to management.
Utilize advanced computer-aided design (CAD) tools for layouts and line flow optimization.
Have hands-on experience with, and capability to operate, manufacturing fabrication equipment.
Conduct in-depth workflow, capacity, quantitative, and throughput analyses.
Conduct comprehensive cost analyses and maintain complex charts for strategic decision-making.
Prepare and maintain various charts.
Foster effective communication by interfacing with machine operators, management, and external vendors.
Participate and/or Facilitate Kaizen events and train others on how to facilitate them.
Execute and promote problem solving to all levels of the organization.
Understand product development program requirements and provide critical interface and support to fulfill the program requirements.
Support the IPT in the preparation of material for presentation at design and program reviews.
Perform other related duties as required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Required:
Bachelors degree in mechanical, Industrial, Electrical, Avionics, or Manufacturing Engineering.
Minimum of seven (7) years of progressive engineering experience, with a focus on aircraft manufacturing.
Proficiency in computer-aided drafting (CAD) modeling and design practices using Siemens NX and engineering configuration management using Teamcenter, together with the Microsoft Office suite of products.
Demonstrated expertise in using calipers, micrometers, and other precision measuring equipment.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a track record of successfully overcoming complex challenges.
Exceptional communication skills, both written and oral.
Proven ability to lead and collaborate in a team-oriented environment.
