Position Summary
INTERNSHIP SUMMARY
Assist in location engineering activities that support design or process improvement of the business unit. Be a driving force for continuous improvement for the facility while working with all levels of the organization. Interns will be provided with training and mentorship that will translate to real-world skills and experiences. 30 – 40 hours per week.
Design Engineering Intern
Responsible for assisting in creating/developing new designs to meet and exceed customer/spanet needs.
- Work with Engineering on improving and maintaining existing products
- Perform product prototyping and laboratory testing
- Create/Review Product Designs for Manufacturability by considering manufacturing capabilities along with performance requirements
- Assist with design drawing change orders and updates
- Complete CAD model/drawing generation and changes
- Conduct analyses and document tests on new and existing designs
- Create assembly & detail prints to facilitate proposals and production
- Support writing technical documents and correspondence to external customers or administrations
- Ensuring design and process documentation clarity – (i.e. making sure drawings, specs and routings are understood by production personnel)
MINIMUM REQUIRMENTS:
- Citizenship: US Citizen or Permanent Resident Alien
- Applicants should be pursuing a degree in Aerospace, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering
- At minimum, an Undergraduate Engineering student entering Junior year
- Ability to work MS Office, CAD (SolidWorks) experience preferred
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; able to work independently
- Blue print reading and technical report writing
- Able to work and communicate effectively with all levels of the organization
- Understanding of Lean methodologies and continuous improvement
