Located in Waterloo, Ontario, the Procurement Specialist role is a pivotal part of the Operations team. This position will lead essential procurement processes, RFPs, negotiations, and cost analysis. It will also ensure top-notch customer satisfaction by handling inquiries and optimizing purchasing activities for goods and services in our organization’s best interest.
This position is primarily responsible for sourcing, negotiating, awarding, documenting, and managing suppliers for both material and service-based requirements.
This role will manage purchase orders, coordinate deliveries with suppliers and maintain strong relationships. Collaborate across Operations, Supplier Quality and Engineering for streamlined procurement and delivery assurance. Maintenance of the production scheduled based on current part delivery information.
Responsibilities
- Manage the procurement for all material from purchase request through on time delivery and acceptance and ensuring proper date alignment with manufacturing schedule.
- Coordinates the necessary activities within the Supply Chain team and wider business by mean of direct collaboration, to ensure successful fulfilment of the manufacturing plan.
- Drives actions to improve on time delivery to customer.
- Evaluate supplier quotes and services to determine most desirable suppliers and negotiate to achieve outlined budgets
- Align supplier schedules with facility needs and obtain schedule and delivery confirmations from suppliers to mitigate delivery risks. Drive resolution of problems related to shortages, missed or late deliveries.
- Assess and evaluate suppliers to ensure quality products are received according to schedule.
- Collaborate with Quality to ensure supplier material meets specifications and contractual requirements.
- Support strategic projects in support of facility/company goals.
- Timely resolve and manage supplier payment and invoice issues.
- Being comfortable with technology and systems, work to maintain data integrity of the inventory management systems and logistics databases in support of Program requirements.
- Ensure compliance for suppliers and all procurement to policies and procedures.
- Performs other duties as required.
Requirements
- University Degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration or Inventory/Resource Management related program (or equivalent work experience)
- Minimum 3-5 years buying and/or planning experience
- Strong computer skills in the Microsoft suite of programs with emphasis on Excel and Project
- Knowledge of inventory management processes and philosophies, including Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Just in Time (JIT). Microsoft Dynamics experience would be considered an asset
- Continuous Improvement process experience
- Able to communicate and present precise information to internal/external customers and leadership
- Self-directed and action-oriented with the ability to work with minimal supervision Ability to work in a team environment and work effectively with all levels of internal and external customers
- Ability to work under pressure and within time constraints
This position is required to work onsite at our facility in Waterloo, Ontario.
The successful candidate will be required to complete a criminal background check and obtain/maintain a Government of Canada security clearance and any applicable clearances with respect to the handling and transfer of controlled goods.
The salary range for this role is 65,000 CAD - 107,800 CAD . The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
