Join our ‘ohana and be a part of an exciting team of professionals dedicated to serving our kama‘āina and introducing our islands to the world!
Role Specific Details
Bases: We are hiring for our Hawaiian Airlines West Coast bases.
Role Summary
The primary function of Hawaiian Airlines flight attendants is to ensure the safety of our guests while aboard company aircraft, by being physically and psychologically capable of performing safety procedures and assisting guests in the event of an emergency. Flight Attendants work in a fast-paced environment; they must be able to handle emergency situations and effectively deal with all types of personalities in an attentive and pleasant manner.
Secondarily, flight attendants provide our guests with a consistent and prescribed level of customer service in the aircraft cabin during flights, which includes providing food and beverage service, while providing an unsurpassed Aloha experience. This is a union represented position.
Key Duties
• Preflight Preparation & Briefings: Attend preflight briefings to review flight details including weather, route, altitude, emergency procedures, crew coordination, flight duration, and onboard services. Prepare aircraft cabin and ensure readiness for boarding and departure.
• Guest Interaction & Assistance: Greet guests warmly, direct them to assigned seats, and assist with stowing carry-on luggage. Respond to flight-related questions and provide prompt, courteous service throughout the flight.
• Safety Demonstrations & Compliance: Demonstrate the use of safety equipment such as seat belts, oxygen masks, and life jackets. Monitor guest compliance with safety regulations and address infractions professionally and effectively.
• Emergency Response & Incident Reporting: Direct and assist guests during emergency procedures, including evacuations. Administer first aid when necessary and complete written and verbal reports of any emergency or safety-related incidents.
• In-Flight Service Delivery: Provide consistent food and beverage service according to airline procedures. Collect and reconcile payments for onboard purchases including meals, alcoholic beverages, and duty-free items.
• Landing Preparation & Post-Flight Duties: Prepare guests and cabin for landing by following established procedures. Ensure cabin is secure and assist with deplaning as needed.
• Training & Regulatory Compliance: Successfully complete annual FAA-approved re-certification and maintain current knowledge of emergency procedures per FAA and airline regulations. Must be able to obtain and maintain authorization for unescorted access to aircraft and SIDA areas
• Teamwork, Professionalism & Physical Readiness: Collaborate effectively with crew members to deliver a seamless and pleasant guest experience. Maintain professionalism, recognize and escalate potential issues, and meet physical demands of flying at high altitudes and working varied schedules including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Able to work effectively with other colleagues to deliver a never-ending aloha experience by providing prompt and pleasant responses to guest inquiries, requests and complaints while aboard the flight.
• During an emergency situation, it is possible that a Hawaiian Airlines flight attendant would have to perform the following duties (not a comprehensive list):
* Assist ill or incapacitated passengers and fellow crew members
* Evacuate the aircraft in heavy, dense smoke during a cabin fire
* Access, handle and operate oxygen bottles, fire extinguishers and other emergency equipment
* Remove and lift emergency cabin windows (weighing up to 60 pounds)
* Jump down the emergency slide from height of approximately 24.5 feet
• All of the job duties, including the emergency duties, outlined above are essential functions of the flight attendant job.
