Summary:
Setting up and operating machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, and precision grinders to produce metal parts and mechanisms with exacting tolerances.
Responsibilities include interpreting blueprints, determining operations, using hand tools and precision instruments, and collaborating with Mechanical Engineering and Quality teams.
The role also involves setting up and running CNC machining centers, modifying CNC programs, and utilizing CAM to generate programs from CAD models.
Toolmaker Jig And Fixture
As a Tool and Die Maker, you will be responsible for using a range of materials, including metals, fiberglass, thermal plastics, and other fabrication materials, to create and maintain both soft and hard tooling for manufacturing processes.
Repairs and fabricates dies and metal tools for our manufacturing facility. In this role, you will be required to interpret designs, cut and shape tools and dies, and assemble the completed parts.
Read and interpret blueprints, design schematics, and CAD drawings. Visualizing and computing metal shapes and tolerances. Design jigs and templates as work aids in the fabrication of tools. Measuring and marking metal stock for machining. Setting up and operating machine tools such as drills, lathes, grinders, and milling machines. Cutting and shaping blocks to specified dimensions. Filling, grinding, and shimming metals to ensure a smooth finish. Fitting and assembling tools and die parts. Inspecting finished dies and form tools for defects, smoothness, and contour deformities. In-depth knowledge of machine tools and their uses. Excellent attention to detail. Advanced troubleshooting skills. Sets up and runs CNC machining centers.
Apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience.

Experience with lathes, milling machines, and precision grinders.
Ability to interpret blueprints, sketches, and engineering specifications.
Experience in setting up and running CNC machining centers.
Proficiency in generating and modifying CNC programs.
Familiarity with CAM and CAD systems.
Knowledge of machining tolerances and dimensions.
Desired Skills
CNC Technical/Trade school certification.
Apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience.
