Material Expediter (Lead) – U.S. Army Equipment Turn-In Site (Contractor)The Material Expediter coordinates the movement, staging, and prioritization of Army equipment and materiel during the turn-in process at a contractor-managed site. This position ensures timely workflow between receiving, inspection, warehousing, and transportation operations while maintaining compliance with Army supply regulations, technical manuals, and contract requirements. The Material Expediter plays a critical role in reducing processing delays and supporting property accountability by ensuring equipment flows efficiently through the turn-in cycle.
Responsibilities
Material Flow & CoordinationExpedite the movement of vehicles, equipment, and Class IX repair parts from receiving to inspection, staging, and warehousing areas.
Monitor and prioritize items requiring immediate attention or special handling (e.g., hazardous, sensitive, or controlled items).
Ensure equipment is staged properly for inspection, accountability, or outbound shipment.
Documentation & TrackingVerify that turn-in documents (DA Form 1348-1A, DD Form 200, condition codes) match the items being processed.
Track movement status of materiel and update logs, spreadsheets, or Army systems (GCSS-Army, DPAS, LMP) as required.
Report discrepancies in documentation, property records, or shipment status to supervisors.
Coordination with Supply & Transportation TeamsWork closely with Supply Technicians, Warehouse Specialists, Transportation Coordinators, and Quality Control staff to ensure smooth equipment flow.
Communicate with Army unit personnel to resolve delays or issues during mass turn-ins.
Support outbound shipping requirements by ensuring materiel is staged, packaged, and ready for loading.
Inventory & Accountability SupportAssist in reconciling shortages, overages, or mismatches in equipment turn-ins.
Participate in cyclic inventories, spot checks, and property accountability reviews (PARs).
Ensure items are properly tagged, labeled, and condition-coded before storage or shipment.
Safety & ComplianceEnsure safe movement of materiel using forklifts, pallet jacks, or other Material Handling Equipment (MHE).
Comply with OSHA, Army, and company safety standards during staging and handling.
Follow environmental standards for HAZMAT handling, packaging, and disposal.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; logistics or supply coursework preferred but not required.
- 2–4 years of logistics, supply, or warehousing experience (Army contractor or SSA operations preferred).
- Experience in equipment turn-in or material coordination strongly desirable.
Knowledge Requirements:
- U.S. Army supply/property regulations (AR 710-2, AR 735-5, DA PAM 710-2-1).
- Army logistics systems: GCSS-Army, DPAS, LMP.
- Basic knowledge of Army condition codes and accountability standards.
Skills:
- Strong organizational and multitasking ability in a high-volume environment.
- Ability to interpret Army documentation and process errors quickly.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Forklift/MHE certification (OF 346 license preferred).
- Effective teamwork and communication with Army units and contractor staff.
- Must have a Read ID
- Must be able to travel within the US if required
- Must have a valid drivers license for the State of Texas
