Boeing Defense, Space and Security (BDS) is seeking Material Specialists to support our Space and Launch Division on our Satellite Systems Team in El Segundo, CA!
This team manages the company’s major commercial, government satellite, and ground programs for communications, national defense and other missions. Position Responsibilities:
- Read, interpret, and work from documents, manuals, invoices, tool requests, kit lists, property movement documents and procedures to perform basic, repetitive tasks which process materials in support of manufacturing and engineering operations through receiving, moving, issuing, sorting, and disposing of items in production control, stockroom, tool crib and receiving dock areas
- Operate material handling equipment, hand tools and power equipment, such as forklifts and pallet jacks, as necessary to receive, move, store and issue material, tooling and tools, company equipment and products, and customer furnished equipment or material
- Perform clerical and physical tasks such as counting, sorting, identification and damage, loading and unloading to and from material locations within assigned area(s) related to receiving, kitting and issuing of such items as materials, components and assemblies, while maintaining basic inventory control accuracy requirements
- Endorses compliance with company initiatives such as AS9100, ISO9001, security, housekeeping, environmental, fire and emergency, hazardous waste, calibration, shelf like certification, workplace, and product safety
- Works and participates in a team environment to continuously improve work tasks and processes
- Provides input to and support for lean manufacturing initiatives. APICS certificate a plus
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
- High School Diploma or GED
- Experience using basic math (e.g. addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division)
- Proficiency with Computers (Typing, Word Processing, Excel)

Additional Information: This is an hourly position governed by the CMM&IC 721. New employees, as well as employees who transfer from non-union positions, will be considered on probation for ninety (90) calendars days from the date of their most recent employment.

Summary pay range: $21.63/hourly – $31.79/hourly
