Position Summary:
Without supervision, level 3 tool crib technicians are able to manage the tool crib inventories and processes as well as communicate with in-house or outsourced tool grinding. Level 3 tool room technicians demonstrate an expert ability to tear down and set up all tool geometries as well as coordinate tool crib operations including inventory controls, such as ordering new cutting tools/manufacturing supplies, etc. They will demonstrate an ability to manage tooling databases and inventory system, as well as provide leadership and assistance to lower level technicians.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
- Utilize tool lists and perform sketch interpretation
- Maintain daily reports
- Perform basic computer operations
- Perform advanced cutting tool visual inspection
- Support production without machine downtime
- Sort and segregate received and returned tools
- Verify tool order requirements for manufacturing schedule
- Validate tool layouts
- Issue tools and supplies of advanced complexity
- Perform advanced pre-setter operations
- Maintain tool change log
- Monitor equipment by inspecting for defects and wear
- Manage supply logs and inventory
- Order tools and supplies
- Request quotes for new and custom tools
- Maintain work area organization
- Perform advanced grind operations
- Contact and communicate with vendor
- Update purchase order due dates
- Create backorders and repairs in the computer system
- Determine workload priorities
- Analyze supply usage data
- Perform full inventory control including proactive planning and ordering
- Actively provide process improvement recommendations
- Positively models company culture
- Train others as necessary
- Maintain area cleanliness and organization within 6S initiative
- Observe all safety policies and procedures
- Observe all company policies and procedures
- Adhere to the Business Quality Management System (BQMS)

Required Skills:
- Basic shop math (cutting tool geometry)
- Familiar with measuring tools such as micrometers and calipers

Experience & Education
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- 3 plus years of machining experience
