Job Description:

Primary Job Functions:

The Chief Inspector is responsible to the Accountable Manager for overseeing all functions of the Quality Assurance Department. They hold final authority—alongside the FAA Accountable Manager—for releasing airframes, engines, propellers, and associated components for return to service. The Chief Inspector ensures compliance with all applicable FAA regulations, original equipment manufacturer (OEM) specifications, and repair station procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operation of Quality Control department.
  • Operation of the Administrative area and files.
  • Supervising, directing, and assisting Inspectors
  • Assisting with the training of personnel assigned to the Quality Control department.
  • Devising and maintaining a system for audits and evaluations of current and proposed vendors and contractors.
  • Recommend vendor and contractors for approval
  • Maintaining records of audits and evaluations
  • Ensure that the established inspection and audit interval are not exceeded.
  • Maintaining an internal audit and surveillance system of the Repair Station operations.
  • Appointing appropriate personnel to develop, evaluate and initiate corrective actions
  • Perform follow up audits and surveillance to determine if corrective action is valid and successful.
  • Maintain records of corrective actions and audits
  • Confirms SUP’s, notify the customer and the FAA by using FAA Form 8120-11
  • Will perform other duties as assigned
Job Requirements:

Qualifications:

  • Be certificated under Part 65
  • Be familiar with the applicable regulations in 14CFR Parts 21, 39, 43, 65, 91, 121, 129, 135 and 145.
  • Be familiar with the maintenance, preventive maintenance, or alterations that are being performed and the required inspection procedures and tools.
  • Be fully trained on the Repair Station Manuals, RSM / QCM, Repair Station Forms Manual, Repair Station Training Program Manual, Repair Station Capability List
  • FAA Inspection Authorization (preferred)
  • Own a basic set of hand tools

Education & Experience:

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent (required)
  • Experience in aircraft maintenance, inspection, and return-to-service procedures
  • Avionics experience (preferred)

Physical Demands: 

  • Regularly lift/carry up to 50 lbs; occasionally up to 100 lbs
