PURPOSE: The Heavy Maintenance Planner is responsible for the effective planning of Line Maintenance events and Special Maintenance Visits (SMV), including engine changes, aircraft modifications, and other maintenance events as directed by Maintenance Planning leadership. The Long-Range Maintenance Planner reviews, develops, and modifies a long-term forecasted line maintenance plan on a sliding window basis. They will also oversee the forecasting of all major line maintenance events with a 6-month outlook, allowing for proper coordination of available manpower and skill set; required materials, tooling, equipment, facilities, and time requirements. The Lone-Term Maintenance Planner will also communicate the 30/60/90-day plan with interfacing departments while optimizing the maintenance program, leveraging opportunities, and securing resources in advance.
RESPONSIBILITES:
- Develop and implement long-term plans for scheduled line maintenance events, including A-Checks, engine changes, APU changes, repairs, modifications, borescope inspections, NDT inspections, and any other significant line maintenance task.
- Optimize the maintenance program utilizing the TCI and Maintenance Program intervals.
- Leverage all available network opportunities for planned long-term maintenance events.
- Plan and schedule EOs (AD and SB driven) and FCDs issued by Engineering to achieve compliance.
- Review and monitor all MEL/NEF/CDL deferrals and assign in conjunction with driving maintenance event.
- Coordinate with Material Planning department for required aircraft part removals based on contractual material obligations.
- Generate and authorize work packages in CBTS from the established plan.
- Review, plan, and coordinate the sequencing and allocation of resources for each planned maintenance event.
- Conduct coordination meetings to review the upcoming resource requirements for the 30/60/90-day plan.
- Clearly communicate and coordinate plans with the following departments, as needed: Line Maintenance, Field Maintenance Representatives, Inspection, Engineering, Materials and Purchasing, Maintenance Control, Maintenance Programs, OCC Aircraft Routers, Heavy Maintenance, and Maintenance Planning.
- Establish and ensure ownership from each interfacing department.
- In response to changes in aircraft routing, adjust and develop contingency plans to capture displaced or delayed maintenance events.
- Continuously evaluate and modify all planned maintenance events to be accomplished by both Avelo Airlines’ maintenance personnel and/or approved maintenance providers.

Requirements
REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum of two years maintenance planning and/or production control experience.
- Must be able to demonstrate a strong understanding of Maintenance Program requirements.
- Ability to identify and capture hours, span time, material requirements for maintenance tasks.
- Experience with technical aspects with the ability to translate complicated technical information into visual representations that non-technical users can easily understand.
- Must be a self-starter with the ability to multitask in a demanding environment.
- Experience working cross-functionally with other teams/departments.
- Proficient in Microsoft Suite – Outlook/Excel/PowerPoint, Power BI.
- Ability to manage time sensitive and multi-faceted projects.
- Takes a lead role in facilitating discussions and resolving conflicts.

- Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
X-FACTORS:
- FAA Airframe & Powerplant license and/or military experience preferred.
- Bachelor’s Degree in an aviation focus or related study preferred.
- Two years supervisory experience preferred.
- Familiarity with AMOS or other maintenance information system preferred.
