In this position, you will participate in BAE Systems nationwide LEAP Internship & Co-op Program, where you will Learn, Engage, Apply, and Progress within the company. The LEAP Program will provide you with the opportunity to work alongside experienced professionals on impactful projects, engage in career development opportunities, and network with our business leaders and the other students in the program.

This Internship is for June - August 2026, but earlier start dates may be accommodated. In this position, you will be supporting the Combat Mission Systems (CMS) Business at our Aberdeen, South Dakota office. *Relocation will NOT be offered and housing is not provided*.

As a LEAP Mechanical Engineering Intern, you will:

Refine programs to improve quality and reduce cycle time
Proactively maintain a safe work environment
Work with team members to determine and implement Corrective Action responses
Review ongoing collaboration of best practices and strategies
Review and approve procedures and procedure updates
Work with manufacturing teams to design and implement tooling and fixturing to refine processes

Job Requirements:

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

Currently enrolled in a Bachelors Degree program pursuing a degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, & Materials Engineering
Must be a Junior or Senior to be considered for this role
Experience with CAD
Good oral and written communication skills
Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with others
Good organizational, planning and follow-up skills
Proficient with PC and MS Office Suite

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

Interest in a career supporting the Armed Forces

Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $38389 - $51816

Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.

Temporary employees generally are not eligible for BAE Systems benefits, but can elect to participate in the 401(k) savings plan. Temporary employees working 20+ hours per week are eligible for medical benefits, the employee assistance program, and business travel accident insurance.
