Job Summary
PDS Defense, Inc. is seeking an experienced Structures Aircraft Mechanic II (F18)to perform maintenance, repairs, and modifications on aircraft structures and components. This role requires strong technical expertise in airframe and power plant systems, structural repair, and troubleshooting.
Responsibilities
- Perform structural modifications and repairs using close tolerance drilling, reaming, and installation techniques.
- Troubleshoot and repair aircraft systems including flight controls, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, and engines.
- Interpret engineering drawings, technical orders, and specifications.
- Use specialized tools such as torque wrenches, micrometers, sheet metal brakes, and sheers.
- Access aircraft data via computer systems and initiate parts/discrepancy requests.
- Maintain certifications and comply with safety and FOD procedures.
- Assist team members to meet cost and schedule targets.
Physical Requirements
- Ascend/descend ladders, work in confined spaces, lift up to 35 lbs.
- Frequent standing, walking, reaching overhead, and balancing.
- Occasional climbing, crawling, squatting, and operating foot controls.
- Exposure to noise and metals; use of personal protective equipment required.
Required Qualifications
- 4+ years of experience with non-porous metals (aluminum, titanium, stainless).
- 4+ years interpreting schematics and assembly drawings.
- 4+ years using structural hand tools (drills, rivet guns, countersink cages).
- 4+ years working heavy structures (doublers, stringers, webs, seat tracks).
- Ability to work variable shifts including weekends and holidays.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in aircraft heavy maintenance (F/A-18 or Depot Level).
- Experience working with titanium aircraft structures.
Education
- High School Diploma or GED required.
