Job Summary
The Director of Safety monitors all aspects of the safety system and acts with the authority of the Accountable Executive in all matters regarding safety, and as such, can designate any delegated resources to accomplish the company's stated safety objectives. The Director of Safety is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing comprehensive safety programs for aviation operations. They ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, conduct risk assessments, and foster a culture of safety throughout the organization.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Maintain and update safety documentation and publications.
- Review and update the company's risk profile.
- Develop safety objectives for the Accountable Executive consideration.
- Develop and implement the Emergency Response Program.
- Monitor the company's SMS performance and create performance reports for other managers and the Accountable Executive, as directed.
- Facilitate hazard identification and risk management.
- Determine the need for and coordinate the development of required safety training materials prescribed by national, state, and local laws and regulations or industry best practices.
- Evaluate employee hazard identifications for risk and recommend action.
- Receive, evaluate, and process all employee hazard reports and recommend action to mitigate risk.
- Coordinate all safety activities and act as a liaison between the company and ARGUS as well as applicable governmental agencies and insurance carriers.

- Monitor employee training programs to ensure that safety, health, and environmental information presented is current satisfies applicable government rules, and meets the company's needs.
- Manage the SMS Internal Evaluation Program (IEP) and conduct field audits.
- Conducting incident and accident investigations.
- Organizing and conducting safety committee meetings; and forecasting necessary budget items to support the organization's safety objectives
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Proven experience leading teams, managing contractors, and assigning tasks to personnel.
