Directs the management of the segment of FDS (Flight Data Systems) domestic/oceanic projects for FDP (Flight Data Processor) software components as it pertains to:
• Project Planning
• Project Forecasting
• Procurement
• Life Cycle Support of deployed systems
• Supporting customer requests for Change Requests
• Recruiting
Develops and supports Policies, Procedures and Standards to ensure that the various in-service systems are maintained and enhanced to meet all safety, operational and efficiency requirements.Job Description

In this role you will:
- Directs the life cycle support and enhancement of FDP software to position the services with respect to current customer needs with reasonable flexibility regarding possible new customer demands and new services or level of services.
- Maintains service standards and safety requirements, monitors operational performance, and resolves operational and technical problems.
- Contributes to efficient management of resources by being involved in the designing of cost-effective engineering solutions, technology applications and process for upgrades and replacements that promote the highest level of transportation safety.
- Manages a segment of the Flight Data Systems Engineering ATM budget.
- Effectively communicates the program to key internal and external stakeholders.
- Leads a team of professional and technical specialists creates a positive environment that enables staff motivation and commitment to the function’s mandate and objectives.
- Participates in the development of strategies, policies, and procedures.
What you bring:
- Bachelor degree in Engineering or Computer Science or equivalent education and experience supplemented by some experience in Air Traffic Management Systems.
- Current and in-depth knowledge of rapidly evolving industry trends, computing and communications technology and products and services available in the ATM community.
- Thorough knowledge and extensive experience in the development, testing, implementation and life cycle support of complex, safety critical ATC systems.
- Good knowledge of NAV CANADA&39;s business and operational mandate, strategic objectives, accountability framework, corporate values and principles including how these relate to project objectives and staff and personal development.
- Knowledge and experience in management techniques and processes including business case analysis, project management, finance, and human resources.
- Thorough knowledge and extensive experience in directing software projects by program planning, budgeting, preparing work plans, scheduling activities, setting priorities, and assigning resources to meet objectives and deadlines.
- Good knowledge of procurement policies, tendering processes, proposal evaluations and contracting mechanisms.
- 5 years of experience in a team lead role within an Air Traffic Management System organization

- Ability to negotiate deliverables with industry, consultants and project members when coordinating projects.
- Persuasiveness to present plans and convince stakeholders of the necessity of strategic planning for project and resource development.
Working Conditions:
- This position is a hybrid position with a minimum – 3 days per week on site.
- Domestic and International travel involved.
