Role Summary

The Manger Inflight Operations and Performance executes the long-term strategy and oversees the performance of the Inflight Division at Horizon Air. As a people leader, this role leads and establishes priorities for a team of leaders to deliver respanable guest and employee experiences while ensuring the utmost operational performance, safety and compliance standards are upheld. This role also promotes a culture of continuous improvement while acting as a liaison to other operational teams to ensure effective alignment and best practices across the company. This role ensures all contractual items are administered in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement, company policies, values, and relevant employment law.

Key Duties

  • Lead team and establish priorities of the Horizon Inflight leadership team to ensure Flight Attendants provide superior customer service, uphold professional standards, support our commitment to safety, demonstrate good judgment, and perform their jobs as defined by company policy, the Flight Attendant Manual and the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).

  • Execute on strategy to lead operational objectives and administrative requirements to achieve department goals with special emphasis on on-time performance (including timeline metrics), customer service standards, reliability and performance expectations, safety, and ensure adequate Flight Attendant staffing and scheduling.

  • Make decisions to ensure designated base locations meet performance objectives and compliance guidelines, and regularly evaluate facility plans to ensure optimum efficiency and productivity of the bases.

  • Partner with cross-divisional groups to achieve company goals and objectives, and with Labor and HR to conduct and oversee investigations, coach and issue discipline.

  • Support timely, ongoing communication and change management related to important work rule changes, now policies, company objectives, new or changing Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) language, letters, and agreements for assigned area of responsibility.

  • Cultivate a culture of belonging and develop people through effective performance management through ongoing feedback and training, focusing on delegation for stretch assignments, growing and developing the team for capacity and growth, looking at performance across the team, and time management.

  • Shape culture of team through action, presence, and reinforcement of behaviors.

  • Lead regular meetings with direct reports to encourage consistency, review operational performance, strategic planning, and growth opportunities.

  • Responsible for monitoring and reporting the budget for Inflight Operations through the divisional budgeting process and monthly reviews of all base and departmental budgets.

  • Participate in the Duty Officer program and fly as a working crew member as needed to maintain operational readiness and training credibility.

  • Maintain a working knowledge of Flight Attendant procedures, FAA, and Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) requirements.

  • Participate in Flight Attendant selection, hiring, and probation review process.

  • Partner to support an excellent working relationship with the flight attendant union (AFA) leadership through collaboration and trust.

Job-Specific Experience, Education & Skills

Required

  • 5 years of experience in inflight operations, station operations or related areas responsible for performance oversight.

  • 2 years of leadership experience.

  • Bachelor’s degree, or an additional two years of relevant training/experience in lieu of this degree.

  • High energy, positive, and leader presence, along with excellent communication skills (i.e., verbal, written, listening) public speaking, influencing, and motivational skills.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams and Outlook).

  • Demonstrated ability to influence change and initiate actions that have strategic impact and drive a high-performance culture.

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to create collaborative relationships that drive outcomes in the best interest of the company, with others in the organization and key external business partners.

  • Strong track record effectively managing teams and experience developing and mentoring employees through engagement.

  • Demonstrated ability to anticipate needs of the staff and maintain an upbeat, positive, and can-do attitude.

  • Ability to prioritize and organize competing priorities in a fast-paced environment while interfacing with multiple people.

  • Ability to complete Horizon Air’s initial training/IOE, hold an FAA flight attendant certificate, and remain qualified through recurrent training to fly as a working crew member as required.

  • Ability and willingness to work a variable schedule, including being on call for a period of 24 hours, and the ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends and holidays.

  • Ability to possess and/or obtain a current passport prior to start date with unlimited access in and out of the United States. Employees with non-U.S. passports also will need any appropriate travel documentation. Must be able to fly unrestricted in and out of all countries within which Horizon Air operates.

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Minimum age 21 and willing and able to serve alcohol.

  • Authorization to work in the US.

Preferred

  • Previous labor relations experience.

  • Knowledge of employee investigation processes, discipline procedures, and conflict resolution.

  • Minimum of 2 years of Flight Attendant experience.

Salary Range

$71,600 -- $107,400 / year

Salary Details

Pay will be based on multiple factors, including and not limited to location, relevant experience/level and skillset while balancing internal equity relative to other Alaska/Hawaiian/Horizon employees. Alaska/Hawaiian/Horizon is committed to fair, unbiased compensation along with competitive benefits in all locations in which we operate.

Note: We don’t typically hire at the top of the range.
