Role Purpose Statement

We are expanding our leadership team as our Chicago operation continues to grow due to new business.   To support this momentum and ensure operational excellence across all hours, we are hiring three high‑impact Managers on Duty (MODs). These leaders will oversee multiple departments during the evening and overnight shifts, ensuring safe, efficient, and high‑quality operations while serving as the primary decision‑makers on site.   This position will report to the Director of Operations.  

Location: near Chicago OHare International Airport

Schedule: hiring for evening and overnight shifts

Main Accountabilities
Operational Leadership
  • Strategically plan, organize, and lead the evening/overnight operation with a focus on labor planning, scheduling, productivity, quality, and safety.
  • Oversee department costs and manage to budget through effective manpower allocation, resource utilization, and overtime management.
  • Ensure full compliance with customer specifications, quality standards, FDA requirements, HACCP protocols, environmental, safety, and regulatory guidelines.
  • Drive on-time and accurate production of food, equipment, and catering items for all scheduled flights.
  • Investigate customer quality issues and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Maintain proactive, professional relationships with internal teams and external partners.
  • Participate in daily operational briefings and ensure clear handoffs across shifts.
  • Maintain par levels of customer inventory and department-specific supplies.
  • Provide data and insights to support annual budgeting and business planning.
  • Optimize the deployment of human, technical, and material resources for peak efficiency.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance processes and operational performance.

Leadership & People Management
  • Ensure the operational areas are properly staffed, structured, and directed.
  • Lead, coach, develop, and motivate team members in alignment with company HR policies.
  • Support talent initiatives, career development programs, and the Global Performance System (GPS).
  • Model and reinforce company values and management principles.
  • Manage and monitor cost budgets, proactively addressing variances with corrective actions.
  • Champion company programs such as GQS, HACCP, Lean, and Employee Safety initiatives.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required.
  • 3–5 years of leadership experience, preferably in operations, production, logistics, or a related field.
  • Experience managing variable production systems and shifting schedules.
  • Strong communication, presentation, training, and relationship-building skills.
  • Demonstrated success improving processes and leading change within fast-paced, complex environments.
  • Strong analytical and conceptual problem‑solving capability.Proven ability to understand and act on customer expectations.
  • Experience analyzing product and labor cost variances.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Windows‑based applications.
