Position Summary

The Operations Manager, reporting to the Rockwood Group Leader, will have the responsibility for all aspects of quality, schedule and cost of products produced or processed within their assigned program(s).

Essential Responsibilities 

• Ensures timely manufacture and processing of components within assigned program(s) in accordance with the Master Production Schedule.
• Responsible for all aspects of quality associated with products manufactured and processed within assigned program(s).
• Implements measures to minimize cost of products manufactured or processed within assigned program(s), including monitoring and adjusting labour capacity as required
• Fosters safety and continuous improvement initiatives and support implementation within assigned program(s)
• Oversees all aspects of production, X-ray, Security, Maintenance/Facilities and Health and Safety departments, supporting professional development and facilitating training/cross-training of operational personnel.
• Holds team accountable to operational and budgetary performance including consumable spending, clocking conformance, production efficiency, utilization and overtime.
• Ensures a safe and healthy workplace, including co-chairing the Health & Safety Committee and maintaining licensing requirements of the plant.
• Adheres to the Collective Bargaining Agreement within their program(s) with the support of the Human Resources department.
• Liaises with appropriate technical personnel to support estimate development of new work packages.
• Serves as a member of the Company Negotiating Team for the purpose of negotiating the CBA.

Position Requirements

• Minimum of ten (10) years of Supervisory experience in a Manufacturing environment.
• Post-secondary certificate in Management or a related discipline, and/or equivalent relevant experience.
• Strong planning, organizational, and analytical skills.
• Strong leadership, interpersonal, and decision-making skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong project management skills.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint).
• Preference will be given to individuals with Lean Green Belt, or equivalent Lean Manufacturing training, with experience relating to Aerospace.
