As an airline, safety is our most important principle. And our Corporate Safety team is responsible for making sure safety is top of mind in every action we take. From conducting flight safety investigations and educating pilots on potential safety threats to implementing medical programs and helping prevent employee injuries, our team is instrumental in running a safe and successful airline for our customers and employees.
Quality and Safety Oversight Program- Plans and performs assessments/audits to measure operational compliance to regulatory requirements, company policies, and procedures covering all airline operating divisions
- Evaluate design of operating division manuals and programs to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and adherence to company documentation standards
- Evaluate operating division performance to ensure compliance with standard operating policy, procedures, and regulatory requirements
- Conducts oversight and safety assurance activities as required by the Corporate Business Manual (CBM) and Corporate Safety Management System (CSMS) manual using procedures in the Corporate Quality Assurance Procedures Manual (CQAPM)
- Conducts Joint Quality Reviews (JQR) with the FAA in accordance with the FAA/UA
- Assists in the accomplishment of IOSA, DoD, and other third-party quality and safety reviews
- Conducts special emphasis analysis of operations based on IEP repeat discrepancies, FAA enforcement actions, and divisional requests
- Evaluate the effectiveness of division policies, procedures, and QC functions to identify areas of concern that could pose an operating risk to personnel, facilities, and equipment
- Facilitates root cause identification and corrective action for areas found not to conform with company policy, procedure, or regulatory requirements
- Track and manage corrective action commitments and implementation to evaluate the effectiveness of mitigations and action plans.
- Conducts and assesses the efficacy of mitigation strategies as they relate to safety investigations.
- Performing root cause analysis assessments.
- Provides written reports and presentations to operating division senior leaders outlining assessments, observations, and findings
- International, Domestic Code-Share, United Express Carrier and Vendor Oversight Program
- Plans and implements the continuous oversight of Code-Share affiliations in compliance with DOT/FAA Code-share Safety Program requirements and Corporate policies
- Plans and conducts quality and safety reviews of International and Regional partners
- Prepares written reports outlining assessments and observations
- Leads and authors required reviews of manuals
QualificationsWhat’s needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):- Undergraduate degree in technical, safety, aviation-related field or equivalent work experience required
- 2 years experience with a major passenger, cargo, regional carrier, or military equivalent in Flight Operations, Inflight, Dispatch, Maintenance, Cargo, or Airport Operations required
- Experience in quality, safety, or regulatory operations required
- Working knowledge of pertinent Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR), FAA Advisory Circulars, IOSA Standards and Recommended Practices (ISARPs), ISO 9001 standards, Operations Specifications (Ops Specs), and Department of Defense (DoD) Quality and Safety requirements required
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, and presentation skills are required
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
- Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
- Reliable, punctual attendance is a crucial function of the position
What will help you propel from the pack (Preferred Qualifications):- Professional certification in quality or safety preferred
- FAA Airman Certificate (i.e. Pilot, Mechanic, Dispatcher, or Flight Attendant) desired
- Technical manual writing skills
- Background in Social Science and/or Human Factors helpful
- Quality management/auditing background preferred
- Previous supervisory experience a plus
The base pay range for this role is $79,800.00 to $108,790.00.
The base salary range/hourly rate listed is dependent on job-related, non-discriminatory factors such as experience, education, and skills. This position is also eligible for bonus and/or long-term incentive compensation awards.
