Responsibilities:
- Performs machine set-up, machining, welding set-up, welding, sheet metal fabrication and extrusion, tube bending and fabrication tasks. Performs composite lay-up, fabrication, and assembly tasks.
- Assembles precision mechanical and electro-mechanical components.
- Assembles, repairs, modifies and installs various power plants and drive trains.
- Perform soldering on electronic and avionics products.
- Assembles and installs wire harnesses and avionics products.
- Prepares test articles, fixtures and data collection devices to perform various tests. Performs basic organic chemical conversion and paint preparation.
- Applies routine organic coatings for corrosion protection and appearance requirements.
- Works on articles of limited complexity following established drawings and requirements.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 3 years operates specialized Friction Stir Welding machinery
Experience working with welding tools
Understanding the welding process and ability to work along side engineers and other team units
The selected candidate must have a minimum of 3 years operates specialized Friction Stir Welding (FSW) machinery to join metal parts using a solid-state process, prepares materials, inspects welds for quality, performs routine machine maintenance, and utilizes precision measuring tools.
This role requires knowledge of welding and preparation, a strong understanding of metallurgy, and the ability to collaborate with engineers on process development and problem-solving to ensure high-quality, strong bonds for industries for aerospace.
Selected candidates will go through specialized training (anywhere from 3-4 weeks) to get them trained on the SLS process and tools.
