Job Title: Aircraft Parts Finisher
Job Description
This role focuses on finishing aircraft cabinets and components to a high cosmetic and functional standard. You will apply your experience in automotive, marine, or boat finishing to perform detailed surface preparation, wet sanding, buffing, and polishing on aerospace parts in a safety-sensitive environment.
Responsibilities
- Finish aircraft cabinets and parts using professional techniques such as wet sanding, buffing, and polishing to achieve high-quality surfaces.
- Perform detailed car-style detailing on aircraft components, including cleaning, prepping, and refining surfaces prior to finishing.
- Prepare surfaces by sanding, cleaning, masking, and inspecting parts to ensure they are ready for final finishing.
- Apply marine and boat finishing practices to aerospace components, ensuring durability and a consistent, high-end appearance.
- Use appropriate tools, equipment, and materials for wet sanding and buffing while following established procedures and safety guidelines.
- Inspect completed work for defects, imperfections, and surface inconsistencies, and correct issues to meet quality standards.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, managing dust and debris in a shop environment that can be dusty and not fully climate controlled.
- Follow all safety protocols and DOT safety-sensitive requirements while working with aerospace components.
- Collaborate with other team members to ensure efficient workflow and timely completion of finishing tasks.
- Document work as required and communicate any issues with materials, tools, or finished parts to the appropriate personnel.
Essential Skills
- Proven experience in car detailing, including wet sanding, buffing, and surface preparation.
- Hands-on experience with wet sanding techniques for high-finish surfaces.
- Strong buffing and polishing skills to achieve smooth, defect-free finishes.
- Ability to perform detailed prep work, including cleaning, sanding, and masking surfaces.
- Familiarity with marine or boat finishing work and related materials.
- Comfort working in a DOT safety-sensitive aerospace environment.
- Ability to work safely and effectively in a dusty shop that is not fully climate controlled.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in the boat or marine industry is preferred.
- Experience in automotive finishing or detailing is highly beneficial.
- Experience working with aerospace or aviation components is a plus.
- Attention to detail and a strong focus on cosmetic quality.
- Ability to adapt finishing techniques from marine or automotive environments to aerospace applications.

Work Environment
This role is based in an aerospace component shop that operates as a DOT safety-sensitive environment. The facility can be dusty at times and is not fully climate controlled, so you should be comfortable working in varying temperatures and conditions. You will work around aircraft parts, finishing equipment, and standard shop tools, following established safety and cleanliness practices throughout your shift.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lawrenceville, GA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr.
