Under general supervision, uses various tools (Burr Gun, Hand Grinder, Bench Grinder, Drill Press, Abrasive Disc, etc.) to finish raw castings under established safety and operating procedures in accordance with quality standards. Ensures that documentation, tooling, and parts are correctly matched to paperwork. To use various methods to inspect, clean and correct raw castings and ensure the finished castings conform to visual and dimensional specifications on technique cards.
Essential Job Functions:
• Follow established housekeeping and safety practices to maintain the quality of the work.
• Demonstrate ability to log on main computer system, extract information, log time, enter inventory amount and forward to next operation.
• Knows the scrap and rework codes and can properly assign codes to all manner of defects.
• Uses Non-Destructive Testing for identifying location of casting defects and verifying defects repaired properly using dig out, weld repair and blending of burrs, excess metal and gates with minimal metal removed.
• Selects and mounts proper tool in burr gun. Also determines what will be removed by belt cleanup.
• Demonstrate cooperation when assistance is needed by the management and must possess the ability to train incoming personnel.
• Demonstrate above average value in the department, maintain above average production and possess the ability to make cost analysis for deci¬sion making, and exercise good judgment.
• Possess ability to basically run the department efficient¬ly with a minimum of outside assistance. Understands the job priority system to expedite shop numbers.
• Demonstrate the ability to read blueprints sufficiently to extract all dimensions and tolerances necessary for project to pass successfully through the Finish Department.
• Demonstrate the ability to maintain proper stock and timely requisitioning of blades, belts, burrs, etc. Also, must be able to complete routinely, on time, a full department monthly invento¬ry, and must know the cost of all tools and supplies within 10.
• Demonstrate artistic ability to reshape parts that have been welded and with excess metal to blueprint specifications with, no detectable rework, to acceptable RMS finish.
• Conduct dimensional inspection as required using drawings, height gauge, caliper, micrometers, feeler gauge, check gauges, surface finish gages, etc. in necessary toleranc¬es before forwarding parts.
• Ensure that all castings, and all other items, used in the department are properly labeled at all times to maintain chain of custody credibility according to OPC’s and QCP’s.
• Work with a rework rate of less than 2.5 and a zero-scrap rate (parts that cannot be repaired) for the last 30 days.
• Demonstrate the ability to recognize and communicate production problems to your supervisor, and consistently notify the supervisor immediately when the workload is low.
• Demonstrate safe and efficient handling of all tools, dies, equipment, forklift, etc.
• Determine the usability of grind¬ing belts and change them, plus adjust the machine properly, change burrs and collets and determine when burrs need to be re-sharpened.

o Read and interpret Tech Card and Blueprint instructions.
o Blend and "dig out" parts to specified dimensions.
o The practical test shall consist of at least ten different shop numbers.
o Complete testing a time frame acceptable as a production rate.
o Checking size or parts with appropriate measuring devices.
o Knowledge of visual codes.
• Perform visual and dimensional inspection of castings per part grade levels. May use such measur¬ing devices as micrometers, calipers, and dial indica¬tors.
