Job Description:

Ready to join one of our Airbus Programs in Spain?
AIRBUS offers an internship (curricular practicum) program aimed at students who are in the last year of their degree with the main objective of acquiring professional skills through the development of a project in the company.

What do we offer?: Internship (curricular practicum) program &43; Bachelor’s Degree Final Project (TFG).

Mission: You will prepare a final year training project that will allow you to complete your official studies.

About practical training:

  • 6 months of curricular internships at AIRBUS from February to July 2026

  • Part time: 5h / day - 25 hours per week (8h-13h)

  • Tutor assignment for continuous monitoring

Project to be carried out by the student:

The objective of this final project will be to optimize the structural design of an aeronautical component used to secure cables in a spacecraft. To achieve this, CAD and FEM simulation tools will be used to reduce weight and costs. Throughout the project, various prototypes will be created to validate the assembly concepts, as well as tests to evaluate their structural capacity. These components can then be subsequently tested to obtain values that corroborate the simulations.

The first step will be to assess the part&39;s requirements and evaluate the areas where the current part could be improved. Trade-offs between different materials and manufacturing methods will then be made to select the most suitable ones for the initial prototypes. These trade-offs will be technical (weight, time) as well as cost-related. Following this, different designs will be developed taking into account manufacturing technology (ALM, sheet metal, etc.), and then moving on to design optimization with FEM analysis. During this process, prototypes will be created to evaluate ergonomics, assembly, and potential manufacturing defects—issues that are difficult to assess without a physical prototype. Finally, the final concept will be validated with mechanical testing tailored to the prototype&39;s needs.

To create these prototypes, the student will be introduced to the various manufacturing techniques available in protospace, such as machining, laser cutting, turning, hot-wire cutting, additive manufacturing, and composite manufacturing, among others. The student will also be asked to analyze alternative manufacturing methods not currently available in the department in order to expand the portfolio of rapid manufacturing resources available. This will require knowledge not only of the different methods and machinery used, but also of the availability of materials and the specific characteristics of each technology to create appropriate designs (Design for Manufacturing).

The final project will combine both theory and practice, so a very active commitment to rapid prototyping is required.

The main deliverables will be: - CAD design of the different models. - Analysis of the different manufacturing techniques and justification of the selection of the techniques to be used, along with any trade-offs. - FEM analysis with corresponding justification of the different models. - Manufacturing of the different prototypes. - Descriptive study (economic and time) justifying the change from the current model.
