Aircraft Paint Prepper – Hawaii

About the Role
Straube’s is seeking experienced and detail-oriented Aircraft Paint Preppers to support our operations in Hawaii. The Paint Prepper is a vital part of the aircraft painting team, responsible for preparing surfaces to ensure the highest quality finish. This role requires strong attention to detail, proper use of tools and materials, and the ability to work in a fast-paced aviation environment.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare aircraft surfaces for painting by cleaning, sanding, stripping, and masking.
Remove paint, corrosion, grease, and other surface contaminants using approved tools and techniques.
Apply body fillers, sealants, and primers as required and sand to a smooth finish.
Mask off areas not to be painted such as windows, trim, and antennas.
Assist painters with priming and paint application as directed.
Inspect surfaces to ensure compliance with specifications before paint application.
Maintain painting tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean and safe condition.
Follow company, FAA, and OSHA safety guidelines at all times.
Qualifications
Minimum of 2 years of experience in paint preparation (aviation, automotive, or industrial).
Knowledge of surface preparation methods including sanding, masking, and corrosion removal.
Ability to use hand tools, sanders, grinders, and other prep equipment effectively.
Strong attention to detail with a focus on quality results.
Ability to work in a physically demanding environment (standing, bending, lifting up to 50 lbs).
Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screening.
